Senior Clinician CSS
DEFINITION / PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Senior Clinician is the person designated as the lead clinician providing direct and indirect patient care for substance abuse patients at Berkshire CSS. The Senior Clinician works closely with the Program Manager and Licensed Nurse (LPN)who is responsible for day to day clinical management of the program. S / he helps evaluate clinical appropriateness of admissions, and helps assess appropriate level of care for new as well as established patients. This individual is a role model for professionalism on the unit. This includes problem solving, facilitating and building team cohesion and maximizing use of limited resources to accomplish goals. The Senior Clinician is a role model for documentation ensuring that it is maintained in a manner that is current, comprehensive, detailed, organized, and meets all regulatory requirements. This individual is responsible for clinical supervision of the Counseling staff, assessing their educational needs and providing a framework to accomplish their professional development. This individual works collaboratively with the McGee nursing staff and hospitalist and psychiatry team. S / he maintains an active caseload of direct and indirect care in charge of utilization reviews for MCO’s. The Senior Clinician actively supports the mission of the hospital and health system and is directly accountable to the Program Manager and / or the Administrative Director of Nursing Operations.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience :
5 years post graduate experience working in the substance abuse field as a clinician. Demonstrated ability to work with Dual Diagnosed patients in an interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated leadership experience in program development / operations. Basic understanding of knowledge, measurement, organization, methods and skills in improving healthcare performance. Preferred : working knowledge of MAT, and 42 CFR 8.2 Federal Opioid Standards
Education and Training :
Masters Degree in Mental Health or other related Human Services field required.
License, Certification & Registration :
LICSW or LMHC - Licensed Independent Social Worker or Licensed Mental Health Clinician
CPR certification (renewed bi-annually)

Ability to interpret, develop, and administer policies and use authority in a manner that faciliates departmental and individual excellence. This leader is required to promote teamwork among staff, engagement and empowerment of staff which will produce staff and patient satisfaction and outcomes. Excellent interpersonal skills; communicates effectively with patients, clients, family members, physicians, management and staff.
