Overview

Mettler Toledo is seeking to hire a Process Improvement Engineer for its Columbus, Ohio location to assist with the evaluation and improvement of manufacturing methods, utilizing lean tools and concepts applied to material flow, tooling, production equipment, assembly methods and quality control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and leverage Lean Manufacturing culture on the shop floor in the design and execution of new manufacturing processes, methodologies and equipment layouts to improve overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Assist with developing, maintaining, and training on manufacturing work instructions utilized across production, of all product models, production lines, and warehouse activities.
  • Support manufacturing and operational cost savings initiatives and kaizens with collaboration of other departments.
  • Provide daily tactical support to Manufacturing and other operational functions related to the shop floor through continuous monitoring, interaction, and direct support requests.
  • Assist in creating an efficient, effective, and dependable set of processes focusing on the elimination of waste in all areas of the company.
  • Collaborate with the continuous improvement manager and peers to provide mentoring / training to manufacturing teams on the use and practice of Lean methodology and tools (VSM, 5S, Kaizen, SMED, "Design for Lean", MDI).
  • Work with manufacturing engineers to optimize work center layout, space requirements, material flow and process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's or associate degree in industrial engineering or a related field, along with a few years of relevant experience, will be considered.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, warehousing, and other supporting supply chain processes preferred.
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. and work in multiple positions for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to reach out to and work with other teams as required through self-motivation and understanding of process implications.
  • This position requires working in office 5 days a week.
