Sr. Financial Accountant

Unite Health Share Ministries (UHSM) is a nonprofit, faith-based health sharing ministry that facilitates member-to-member health sharing among fellow Christians, serving as a connector to administer medical cost sharing. About this role

We are seeking a detail-orientated and experienced Sr. Financial Accountant to join our finance team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, analytical acumen, and a proactive mindset to drive continuous improvement in financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, and ad hoc financial projects
Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business drivers and align financial goals
Prepare and present monthly financial reports and variance analyses
Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries
Prepare and file tax returns while ensuring compliance with current tax laws and regulations, including maintenance of accurate records for reporting and audit purposes
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

2- 3 years of public accounting experience at Senior Associate level

Strong financial modeling and data analysis skills are essential

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain dynamic Excel models for analysis and reporting

Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards

Strong attention to detail and ability manage multiple priorities

Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
