Primary Responsibilities :
- Prepare patient and treatment rooms; ensure medical equipment is sterilized.
- Room patients, obtain health history, and accurately document vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, height, weight).
- Utilize NextGen electronic medical record (EMR) software to document patient care and medical history.
- Assist physicians with minor in-office procedures.
- Schedule appointments, complete prior authorizations, manage medication refills, handle referrals, answer calls, and complete necessary paperwork.
- Perform CLIA waived testing.
- Administer injections or treatments and conduct routine laboratory tests.
- Maintain Practice Health and Safety Standards.
- Achieve Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or RMA) within 9 months of employment to comply with certification procedures.
Required Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED.Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program.Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or RMA) or willingness to attain certification within 9 months of employment.Preferred Qualifications :
Active Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, CCMA, NCMA, or RMA).CPR certification.Experience as a Medical Assistant in a family practice setting.Familiarity with NextGen or other electronic medical records (EMR) software.Experience with medical back-office tasks such as injections / immunizations, phlebotomy, urinalysis, and administering medications.Proficiency in medical front-office tasks including scheduling appointments, prior authorizations, medication refills, and referrals.We promote diversity and aim for equity in healthcare.
