Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details Location : Dayton, Ohio (45409) – Ohio healthcare jobs Assignment Type : Locum tenens (Travel / Contract Registered Nurse) Unit : Cardiac Stepdown / Cardiac Telemetry / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Start Date : October 20, 2025 End Date : March 9, 2026 Duration : 16-20 weeks preferred (13 weeks accepted) Shifts : 3x12-hour night shifts (19 : 00 - 07 : 30) Hours per Week : 36 Estimated Weekly Salary : $1820 - $1950 Patient Ratios : 1 : 5-6 Scrub Color : Navy Blue Registered Nurse Qualifications Minimum 1.5 years of recent Stepdown (SD) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN experience (ICU experience does not substitute) Experience managing 1 : 5 patient ratios in SD or PCU settings Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (any state); compact nursing licenses accepted EPIC electronic health record / charting experience Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to start BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS certification preferred IV start skills required Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips and telemetry Travel nursing experience preferred Availability to work every other weekend and holiday Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions considered); COVID-19 vaccine not required Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to cardiac stepdown and telemetry patients, including those with heart failure, chest pain, NSTEMI, post-procedure, COPD exacerbation, and substance withdrawal Competently manage and titrate IV drips (heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, insulin, etc.) Interpret and monitor cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias Initiate and maintain IVs, manage feeding tubes, and provide post-cardiac procedure care Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response Float to other hospital units as needed, including main, south, and north campuses Support the nursing care team and adapt to varying patient assignments Comply with all hospital policies, including timely completion of orientation and required modules Join our healthcare team in Dayton, Ohio and take the next step in your nursing career.
