Job Description

Aldea Services Inc, a national engineering firm, is seeking a Tunnel Engineer in our Columbus, OH office. The successful candidate will have a minimum of twelve (12) years working on geotechnical, underground, tunnel, or trenchless construction projects, including both design and construction management roles. Preferred experience and qualifications are described as follows :

• Management : Experience successfully managing tasks, projects, and technical staff.
• Communication : Strong communication skills. Communicate technical and non-technical information in a concise, professional manner, including participation in technical meetings and workshops with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Business Development : Demonstrated success developing relationships with clients and contributing to business growth.
• Water and Wastewater Design : Experience with tunnel and trenchless design and construction of municipal water and wastewater conveyance facilities.
• Engineering Designs : Prepare construction plans and specifications, structural / geotechnical calculations and design reports, and technical memoranda.
• Design Calculations : Ability to produce design calculations (including numerical analysis) as required in support of tunnel and trenchless design including support of excavation (shafts & tunnels – including connection details and complex structures), and adherence to all local and national codes of practice for concrete, steel, and timber design.
• Geotechnical Field Investigations : Experience overseeing the completion of geotechnical investigations in both soil and rock geology.
• Geotechnical Parametric Studies / Evaluations : Ability to develop design parameters from geotechnical reports.
• Construction Management : Experience serving in a management or support role during the construction of tunnel or trenchless projects.
• Technical Writing : Proficiency in preparation of Technical Memoranda, Geotechnical Data Reports (GDR’s), and Geotechnical Baseline Reports (GBR's)
• Company Representation : Increase Aldea’s visibility with internal and external professionals by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, including any identified industry activities.
