About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Profession : RN (Registered Nurse)

Specialty : Medsurg (Medical Surgical)

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day / Night Rotate

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum of 2 years

License : Active RN license required

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC (if applicable)

Must-Have :

Confident in skills such as assessments, infusion pumps, and medication administration.

Strong social skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Reliability is essential.

Description :

This is a Medsurg unit with 20 beds.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5.

RNs are required to titrate drips, including Insulin, Heparin, and Levophed, and set rate drips such as Amiodarone.

Nurses read telemetry strips each shift and document findings.

There are no monitor techs on the unit.

A charge nurse is available 24 / 7 and does not take patient assignments, as they cover other areas.

Nursing supervisors are present from Monday to Friday.

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and Patient Care Technicians (PCT) assist with vital signs, charting, documentation of intake and output, and activities of daily living (ADLs).

The unit utilizes Hamilton C1 ventilators with CPAP and BiPAP, but does not keep ventilated patients.

Nurses manage respiratory equipment and administer respiratory treatments.

The schedule includes rotating shifts of 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM.

Block scheduling is available based on staffing needs, with the schedule planned 6 weeks in advance.

There is a weekend requirement of every third weekend.

Holiday availability is also desired and included in the rotation schedule.

Floating to other departments may be required, particularly to assist in the emergency room.

Nursing staff are encouraged to have flexibility regarding floating.

Scrubs are provided but no specific color is mandated.

Unit-specific orientation may be provided based on staff availability, typically requiring 3-6 shifts.

Experience in critical access facilities is appreciated.

The working environment is collaborative, emphasizing teamwork and family-like support for both staff and patients.
