Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with 2+ years of recent inpatient and outpatient experience and New Mexico PT license for a contract covering both pediatric and adult populations.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in both inpatient and outpatient settings with a mix of acute and OP caseloads
  • Department covers physical, speech, and occupational therapy services
  • Patient population includes adults and pediatrics from birth through 18 years old
  • Therapists may float between departments and local locations within 20 miles as needed
  • Typical schedule is 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with one weekend (Saturday-Sunday) per month
  • Pediatric therapists may need to float to adult units if pediatric census is low
  • Uses Epic EMR; on-site training available
  • Role involves evaluating and treating patients across a range of rehabilitation needs, including developmental and physical disorders
  • Will coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement comprehensive rehab programs
  • Responsibilities include setting and meeting discharge goals, patient advocacy, and patient / family education for self-determination and resource utilization
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan
  • Therapists will float as required, and coverage areas can include inpatient, long-term care, community-based care, and home health care
  • Return staff must have a 1-year gap before being eligible for rehire as a traveler
  • Basic orientation and on-site training provided as needed
  • Professional or business casual attire appropriate for a healthcare setting

    • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Current New Mexico Physical Therapist license required if applicable
  • Minimum two years of current experience in both inpatient and outpatient physical therapy required
  • At least one previous 13-week travel assignment required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy required; Doctorate preferred
  • BLS certification through AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross required
  • At least one year of pediatric PT experience required if working with peds
  • Basic computer skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment required
  • Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
