Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) with a background of Civil Compliance.
The Safety Professional is responsible for ensuring the safe and compliant execution of work activities within an environment by issuing necessary permits, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating with operations, safety personnel, project management, and contractors. This role is critical in preventing accidents, injuries, and environmental incidents. Project based position. Project is located in San Diego County.
Responsibilities
1. Review and process permit applications in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and refinery-specific procedures.
2. Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop control measures within the refinery context.
3. Issue permits for personnel after ensuring all safety requirements are met for operations.
4. Develop and maintain safety plans for high-risk work activities.
5. Perform daily field audits to verify compliance with permit conditions and safety procedures within refinery facilities.
6. Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses related to management.
7. Collaborate with operations, project management, and contractors to ensure safe work practices.
8. Maintain accurate permit records and documentation for the activities.
9. Continuously improve permit processes and procedures for operations

Requirements : Qualifications
1. Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) Certification
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety or related field within Civil Compliance.
3. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, but not required.
4. Strong understanding of safety regulations, industry standards, and Civil-specific requirements.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced refinery setting.
7. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Working Conditions
1. Work in a environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials, noise, and at times, extreme weather conditions.
2. Adherence to strict safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements.
3. Ability to work rotating shifts or overtime as needed.
