Job Summary

The Adult Sports Building Director staff are responsible for daily operations at assigned indoor locations. Building Director staff assist the Sports Office with building monitors, building staff, officials, and troubleshooting / ensuring the safety of all participants.

Position Summary

  • Supervise and monitor operations by walking, communicating with patrons, and remaining visible and approachable.
  • Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools, Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules, and City of Milwaukee ordinances.
  • Effectively communicate with building monitors, building staff, engineers, officials, and patrons.
  • Assist / Mentor new and veteran staff.
  • Ensure restrooms are open and clean along with all other needed equipment.
  • Ability to be proactive and see potential hazards before safety is compromised.
  • Complete all required paperwork / reports accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Ensure assigned locations have all of the necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Exhibit professionalism in demeaner, attitude, and dress at all times.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

Supervision Required

Reports to the Recreation Supervisor of Adult Sports

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Able to meet the scheduling needs for this position.
  • Able to attend mandatory in-service meetings and trainings.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Preferred Experience

  • CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Experience working in a public setting that involves diverse groups of people.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Energetic team player willing to take pride in position and ownership over responsibilities.
  • Desire to learn new skills applicable to position.
  • Ability to exercise conflict management skills and effectively communicate with patrons and staff.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to participate interactively with a diverse group of individuals.
