Job Description
We are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to help ensure Acron’s adherence to U.S. trade regulations while supporting our global, primarily commercial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in U.S. export regulations, with a primary focus on the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). This is a hands-on role centered on managing a high volume of daily shipments and advising internal teams on compliance matters. If you have a deep understanding of EAR, a business-friendly approach to compliance, and a passion for operational excellence, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary approver for a high volume of daily export and import shipments, ensuring regulatory compliance within our SAP system.
Provide timely and pragmatic guidance to internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Logistics) on export classifications, shipping documentation, and regulatory requirements.
Interface with customs brokers and freight forwarders to ensure seamless and compliant shipments.
Manage the export licensing process as needed, with a strong focus on the proper use of EAR license exceptions (e.g., STA).
Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and investigations to ensure compliance.
Train internal stakeholders on trade compliance policies and practices.
Collaborate with shipping, logistics, sales, legal, and engineering teams to solve problems and mitigate risk.
Maintain accurate records in accordance with U.S. Department of Commerce and Department of State requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience, OR 10+ years of direct experience in trade compliance instead of a degree.
Proven experience with U.S. export regulations, with deep expertise in the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Familiarity with ITAR is a plus.
Proficiency in determining ECCN classifications and applying EAR license exceptions (e.g., STA).
Working knowledge of HTS classification and global freight operations.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
Effective communicator with the ability to engage across departments and all levels of the business.
Experience using systems such as SAP, ACE, Microsoft Office, and web-based compliance platforms.
