Part-time Instructor in Photography (Applicant Pool). The Art & Design program in the School of the Arts (SOTA) at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) invites applications for an ongoing pool of part-time instructors in Photography. We seek passionate and experienced individuals to teach engaging, profession-oriented, and inspiring photo courses. The Photography area offers a media-diverse approach that emphasizes both technical skills and conceptual development. NKU offers a BS or BFA in Photography, as well as various BA and BFA degrees in Studio Arts and Visual Communication Design where photography is integral. Candidates should be knowledgeable and proficient in Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, advanced digital camera control, digital file management, and current commercial and fine art photography concepts. This posting is an applicant pool; applications will be used to build a qualified and diverse database of instructors for future instructional needs.

Primary Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities are to teach photography courses in the Art & Design Photography program in SOTA. Responsibilities include mentoring students, studio management, and contributing to the university’s strategic priorities. The Photography area features a teaching lab with Apple iMac computers, open labs when not in use, a two-bay photography studio with Profoto lighting, a wide range of lenses (Canon and Nikon), mobile lighting kits, tripods, and Cintiq input tablets. The print lab services art and design students and is equipped with printers capable of producing from small to large formats. From capture to print, the area provides resources to help students realize their creative vision. The program prepares students for diverse career paths including graduate studies, wildlife photography, running a photography studio, photojournalism in the music industry, or pursuing artistic practice as applicable in the contemporary market.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications : MFA in Photography or equivalent, active professional photography practice, knowledge of photography and digital techniques, and familiarity with contemporary and historical practices. Demonstrated commitment to promoting a positive learning environment.

Teaching Experience : College-level teaching experience is preferred. Applicants should clearly demonstrate strengths and technical experience in the areas listed above.
