Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I trauma center requiring trauma experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Hospital Emergency Department setting
  • Level I trauma center environment with stroke and STEMI care
  • 73-bed ED with 24 hallway spaces, seeing approximately 350 patients daily
  • Night shift : 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Required to work 1 major and 1 minor holiday per contract
  • Will take 1-2 on-call shifts per schedule period
  • Floating required to offsite EDs in Fairfax City (10 beds) and Reston / Herndon (7 beds)
  • Strong ED experience is essential; will not take trauma patients directly
  • Patients requiring psychiatric care are medically cleared and admitted, with sitters available for suicidal patients
  • Security staff are present in the ED
  • There is no separate fast track area; non-acute cases are managed within the main ED

    • Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license
  • Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and CPI certifications
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
  • Previous Level I or II trauma experience required
  • EPIC charting experience preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred
