POSITION SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Fleet Manager, the Fleet Repair Tech supports the daily operation and upkeep of the company's service trucks, vans, trailers, and specialty equipment.
The technician will play a key role in minimizing downtime, maintaining accurate maintenance records, and supporting the electrical teams that depend on these vehicles for field operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Fleet oversight and maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on company vehicles (trucks, vans, and trailers), including oil changes, brakes, tires, batteries, lighting systems, and general mechanical work.
- Conduct regular safety and performance inspections on all vehicles and document findings.
- Identify and diagnose mechanical issues using manual inspection and diagnostic tools.
- Replace or repair worn or defective parts, ensuring repairs meet company and manufacturer standards.
- Assist in coordinating external vendor repairs when specialized service is required.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety in the company's maintenance area.
Preventive Maintenance and Documentation
Support the Fleet Manager in maintaining a preventive maintenance schedule for all vehicles and equipment.Log all maintenance and repair work accurately in fleet management software or paper records.Track mileage, service intervals, and inspection due dates for vehicles.Ensure all work is performed in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards.Inventory and Equipment Management
Monitor and maintain an inventory of parts, tools, and supplies necessary for repairs.Recommend parts or equipment purchases to the Fleet Manager as needed.Assist in tagging, tracking, and labeling fleet assets to ensure accurate recordkeeping.Collaboration and Support
Communicate effectively with the Fleet Manager regarding vehicle condition, maintenance needs, and repair timelines.Coordinate with field supervisors and drivers to schedule vehicle servicing with minimal impact to operations.Support the company's commitment to safety, reliability, and professional presentation of all fleet vehicles.GOALS
To ensure the company's fleet operates safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively by implementing preventive maintenance programs, maintaining compliance with all regulations, and supporting field operations through reliable vehicle management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,AND ABILITIES
Proficiency with automotive diagnostic tools and equipment.
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems.Familiarity with fleet management or maintenance tracking software.Strong understanding of preventive maintenance and vehicle inspection procedures.Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle systems efficiently and accurately.Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.Effective communication and teamwork skills.Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma
Technical or vocational training in automotive repair preferred.2+ years of experience in vehicle maintenance, auto repair, or related mechanical trade (fleet or construction environment preferred).
