Director of Customs Brokerage Compliance : Lead the Way in a Dynamic Industry!

We're seeking a Director of Customs Brokerage Compliance to take the reins of a newly created, pivotal role within our firm. The Opportunity
This Exempt leadership role reports directly to the Vice President of Customs Brokerage and is designed to meet the increasing demand for compliance support, both internally and for our customers. You won't just keep pace with regulatory requirements—you'll set the standard.
You'll lead a small, seasoned team of Licensed Customs Brokers , collaborating closely with the brokerage leadership team to ensure strict adherence to U.S. Customs regulations, FMC requirements , and our high customer service standards. Your expertise will be key in mentoring our entry writers, developing robust training materials, and implementing essential audit processes to promote operational excellence and compliance .
Key Responsibilities
As the Director, you will be the central figure in maintaining our compliance integrity :
Team Leadership : Oversee and mentor a small team managing complex transactional support like post-entry work and critical classification functions.
Strategy & Training : Collaborate with leadership to develop, create, and maintain SOPs, KPIs , and comprehensive training material, keeping it current with CBP and PGA guidelines .
Risk & Auditing : Design and manage the entry audit process , assess risk, implement corrective measures, and ensure accurate recordkeeping and regulatory compliance across the board.
Customer & Classification : Support customer compliance visits and discussions , and work with the team to ensure timely and proper updates to our product database for accurate HTS classification .
Regulatory Oversight : Ensure compliance with all FMC requirements , including rate filing and contract management, and maintain and manage our CTPAT program .

Required Skills & Experience :
Must be a Licensed Customs Broker (LCB).
5+ years of experience in customs brokerage operations.
Strong working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification , and FMC regulations .
Proven leadership experience or demonstrable readiness to manage and develop a small team .
Experience as an entry writer with a deep understanding of brokerage operations.
Exceptional HTS classification skills and high attention to detail.
Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills .
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel .
A collaborative mindset and comfort working in a dynamic environment.
Experience with CargoWise is a plus!
