We are looking for an experienced and business-minded Corporate Counsel to join our fast-paced and fast-growing consumer lending company. In this role, you will provide strategic legal guidance across the business to help us scale responsibly and stay ahead of an evolving regulatory landscape. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be a key advisor on legal risk, contracts, and regulatory and legal changes across the U.S. where we operate.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to senior leadership across a wide range of legal, regulatory, and operational issues.
• Monitor relevant laws, regulations, and industry developments in consumer lending, privacy, and data protection, and ensure company policies remain compliant.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, ensuring alignment with legal standards and business needs.
• Identify legal risks, conduct due diligence, and collaborate closely with the Compliance team and other internal teams on risk mitigation strategies across the business.
• Manage pre-litigation and litigation matters, including working with outside counsel as applicable and responding to customer legal complaints or escalations.
• Support regulatory reporting, filings, and communications with state and federal regulators.
• Advise on governance matters, support board activities, and ensure compliance with governance standards.

Qualifications

We Offer

$180,000 - $220,000 a year

This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus. These rewards are allocated based on level, impact and performance in the role. The compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.
