Shipping & Receiving Specialist
Location : Sacramento, CA (South Sacramento Area)
Job Summary
This is a hands-on role responsible for the shipping, receiving, and delivery of supplies, materials, and equipment, along with inventory control and record-keeping. You will handle both domestic and international shipments, including materials that may be flammable, explosive, caustic, or otherwise hazardous. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and accurate movement of goods and materials across the facility.
Primary Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving
- Receive and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Inspect incoming shipments for damage, accuracy, and completeness; verify against purchase orders.
- Deliver and retrieve supplies and materials to / from work areas and storage locations.
- Package and prepare outgoing shipments (domestic and international), ensuring proper wrapping, labeling, and documentation.
- Process transactions using ERP systems and carrier websites; ensure all shipping paperwork is accurate and complete.
- Support special projects and assignments as needed by management.
Inventory & Clerical
Stock shelves and rotate inventory as needed to ensure accuracy and accessibility.Participate in physical inventory counts in the warehouse and yard.Use computers and handheld devices for inventory tracking and data entry.Communicate effectively with other departments to provide timely updates and information.Prepare damage claims for review and manage disposal of surplus property when required.Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in shipping and receiving, including material handling, storage, and logistics.International shipping experience is strongly preferred.Forklift certification is preferred (training can be provided if not yet certified).Excellent attention to detail — ability to review documents for accuracy and properly handle materials and products.Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).Willingness to be trained on various power and hand tools.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Dedication to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.Team-oriented mindset with a positive, proactive attitude.Comfortable working in a small, fast-growing company environment.Physical Requirements
