Job Title : I&C Technician Location : Oak Ridge, Tennessee Type : Direct Hire Contractor Work Model : Onsite Position Summary : The I&C Technician supports the testing, qualification, and dedication of safety-related instrumentation and control components used in nuclear applications. This position involves hands-on setup, execution, and documentation of environmental, seismic, and functional tests in accordance with nuclear standards and quality assurance requirements. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical aptitude, practical experience with electrical and instrumentation systems, and a solid understanding of testing procedures used in nuclear component qualification and Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD). Duties and Responsibilities : Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to : Execute Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and Equipment Qualification (EQ) test plans in compliance with EPRI NP-5652, IEEE 323, and IEEE 344 standards. Perform functional, seismic, and environmental testing of safety-related instrumentation and control components for nuclear systems. Assist engineers in designing, fabricating, and implementing custom test setups for component qualification. Operate and maintain triaxial seismic testing equipment and related instrumentation. Conduct environmental tests such as temperature, humidity, vibration, and electrical overstress testing per established procedures. Perform failure analysis, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on I&C components and test setups. Accurately record and interpret test data, prepare reports, and communicate findings to the engineering team. Support inspection and verification activities, both in-house and at third-party test facilities, as required. Ensure all testing activities are performed in compliance with NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and company procedures. Assist with calibration, maintenance, and verification of test equipment and instrumentation. Perform other technical duties as assigned in support of nuclear qualification and CGD programs. Requirements : Education & Experience : Associate Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, or related Technical Field required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum 3 years of experience in I&C testing, maintenance, or qualification in a nuclear or other safety-critical environment preferred. Working knowledge of Commercial Grade Dedication (EPRI NP-5652) and Equipment Qualification (EQ) principles strongly preferred. Experience with nuclear safety-related components, including sensors, transmitters, relays, and control modules, is beneficial. Technical Skills : Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures. Skilled in the use of test and measurement instruments, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, Hi-Pot testers, and power supplies. Familiarity with mechanical and electronic measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, tachometers, and flow meters. Experience with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation setup / configuration. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and report preparation. Working knowledge of IEEE 323, IEEE 344, and related nuclear qualification standards preferred. Experience with materials analysis tools (OES, XRF, FTIR) considered a plus.
