Catering Prep Cook

Catering By Design is seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join our growing team.

We are a full-service catering company based in Philadelphia, known for our handcrafted, seasonal menus and high-touch service. Our cuisine draws inspiration from around the world, with a strong commitment to sustainability, local sourcing, and thoughtful execution.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a team of passionate professionals and contribute to a wide variety of events—from intimate gatherings to large-scale galas.

Responsibilities

Execute daily prep tasks efficiently and accurately according to established recipes and guidelines

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation

Properly handle, label, and store ingredients and prepared foods

Assist in production for both on- and off-site events, ensuring consistency and quality

Communicate effectively with the culinary team to stay ahead of prep needs and timelines

Uphold food safety standards and health code regulations at all times

Qualifications

1+ year of experience in a prep or production kitchen role

Strong knife skills and familiarity with standard kitchen equipment

Ability to follow recipes and execute prep with precision

Punctual, reliable, and a team player

Must be available weekdays between 8AM–6PM; occasional weekend hours may be required for event support

Passion for sustainability and experience with waste-conscious cooking is a plus
