Job Description

  • Directs the functions of the I.S. department including information technology and telecommunications.
  • Develops, Implements, and Evaluates information technology programs based on system analysis.
  • Establishes policy and procedures for the procurement, installation, and support of computers, application systems and communications and telecommunication systems.

4. Develops strategies for the internet and intranet.

  • Confers with administration and department managers to determine information technology and communication needs.
  • Aligns information technologies with the business needs of the facility and clinics.
  • Acts as the Information Security Officer and attends all compliance meetings to report security breaches.
  • Ensures system is back up per policy.
  • Keeps current with principles, practices, technology, regulations, and standards that apply to healthcare information technology and communications.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of software, mainframes, mini-microcomputers, communication and telecommunication system database and networks.
  • Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art information technology application used in the healthcare industry.
  • Knowledge of computer center operations and procedures and systems analysis.
  • Oversees all information technology projects; design, plans, specifications, estimates, reports, and recommendations.
  • Installs computers, printers, and new computer programs hospital-wide as applicable.
  • Performs quarterly PC audits.
  • Thorough knowledge of HIPAA regulations, and other state and federal / regulatory privacy and confidentiality information requirements.
  • Promotes good staffing practices by maximizing the utilization of human resources; forecasts and anticipates the personnel needs of the department with regard to fluctuation in the projected workload.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to establish appropriate department priorities.
  • Prepares, implements and monitors the department’s budget.
  • Directs and evaluates the performance of the IS staff.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  • Any other duties assigned as needed to help drive our Mission and abide by our organizations values.
