About The Position

Job Title : Surgical Technologist

License : Licensed as a Surgical Technologist in the state required

Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS)

Must-Have : Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program

Description :

Assists during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field.

Provides instrumentation as needed to the surgical team.

Participates in unit activities that assure high levels of quality related to patient care.

Functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Possesses expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique.

Combines knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies in performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Functions with working knowledge of relevant standards.

Maintains and checks all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, sterile indicators, and expiration dates.

Ensures the operating room environment is safe and that equipment functions properly.

Conducts operative procedures under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Monitors sterile field for events that may contaminate, interfere, or alter the field.

Initiates or notifies the need for corrective action under supervision.

Maintains flexibility while contributing to the individualized, ongoing delivery of care within the scope of practice.

Models effective, timely communication with the perioperative team.

Fully participates in the Time Out Process, including Briefings and Debriefings.

Assists the team in patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.

Models professional behavior, including maintaining currency in new technologies and procedures.

Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.

Role models the principles of a Just Culture.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be HIPAA compliant.
