The Claims Administrator is responsible for supporting our customers' sense of security and well-being by providing timely and accurate administrative support to the Claims team. The role involves acting as a customer service advocate, offering guidance and resolving inbound customer inquiries efficiently. The Claims Administrator also requests, verifies, and collects claim requirements via phone and written communication.

This role includes training and mentoring less experienced Claims Administrators and performing audits.

Primary Responsibilities (may include, but are not limited to) :

  • Customer Experience and Support (40%)

Provide timely, accurate, professional, courteous, and empathetic service. Document and communicate phone conversations accurately per department guidelines.

  • Claims Requirements
  • Request claim requirements from policyholders, insureds, policyowners, attorneys, third-party administrators, etc., ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Performance and Service (50%)
  • Meet departmental deadlines and standards for service, accuracy, and timeliness. Adjust actions proactively to meet objectives and support team members.

  • Claims Processing
  • Set up various claims types, including group and individual long-term care, life, waiver of premium, death, disability, annuity, and unclaimed property, using multiple systems.

  • Mailbox Monitoring
  • Monitor claim mailboxes for incoming correspondence and correctly categorize and communicate receipt according to procedures.

  • Process Improvement (10%)
  • Support EWA initiatives, identify efficiency opportunities, and communicate improvements to leadership.

    Qualifications :

    Required : High School Diploma or GED

    Preferred : Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Operations Management, Statistics, or Insurance

    Work Experience and Skills :

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience; insurance claims experience preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Additional Information :

    This position is hybrid, based in Indianapolis, IN, or Portland, ME, with potential to work in CA, IN, or ME as needed. Note that OneAmerica does not have offices in New York, and remote work in NY is not permitted.
