Position Summary
The Commercial Trucking Insurance Specialist is a high-impact producer and account manager who combines deep industry knowledge, marketing expertise, and technical underwriting skill to grow and retain trucking business accounts.
This role involves full ownership of the client lifecycle — marketing and quoting, policy servicing, renewals and endorsements, and new business generation through strategic outreach and referral development.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketing & Quoting -Market and quote all classes of trucking risks, including owner-operators, small fleets, long-haul, hazmat, box trucks, tow, reefer, dump, etc.
- Complete and submit complex commercial trucking applications and underwriting forms.
- Work directly with brokers, MGAs, and carriers to negotiate and secure the best possible terms and rates.
- Manage quoting platforms including but not limited to Progressive, National Indemnity, Berkshire Hathaway, Canal, Great West, etc.
- Evaluate loss runs, MVRs, and FMCSA data for accurate underwriting submissions.
Business Development
Drive new business production by networking with truckers, dispatchers, fleet owners and associations.Build strong referral partnerships with dealerships, factoring companies, and logistics firms.Identify opportunities for cross-selling cargo, general liability, and physical damage coverages.Account Servicing & Operations
Manage complete account servicing cycle : COIs, endorsements, cancellations / reinstatements, policy audits, and renewals.Maintain compliance and documentation in Salesforce Veruna (agency management system).Deliver prompt, accurate, and professional client support for all policy and coverage needs.Administrative & Compliance
Stay current on DOT, FMCSA, and state trucking insurance regulations.Track and manage renewals proactively.Ensure accurate data documentation, and reporting.Maintain carrier appointments, underwriting guidelines, and quote logs.Qualifications
Required
Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial trucking insurance marketsProven expertise with multiple carrier portals and markets (admitted and non-admitted).Strong understanding of trucking operations; filings (MC#, DOT, MCS-90), deductibles, coverages and cargo requirements etc.Active Property & Casualty License in at least one U.S. stateStrong organizational and communication skillsProficiency in quoting tools and Microsoft Office SuitePreferred
Knowledge and hands-on experience with Salesforce Veruna (strongly preferred).Experience handling hazmat, high-risk, and specialty fleet accounts.Established relationships with key carriers or MGAs.Spanish bilingual skills (not required, but a plus).Demonstrated ability to consistently exceed sales and retention goals.Key Traits
