About the Department / School / Area

Hospitality & Retail Management is one of eight departments in CHHS. Over 400 students study in the Restaurant, Hotel, & Institutional Management and Retail Management programs.

Major / Essential Functions

The Professor of Practice title at TTU is used to recruit individuals with exceptional backgrounds and achievements in academic, business, government, or other professional practice. Primary responsibilities normally include teaching in an area of expertise, mentoring students in professional and career preparation, and liaising with professional contacts and entities on behalf of the department or program. In line with TTU's strategic priorities, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate and / or graduate levels across teaching, research / creative activity, and service.

Faculty Qualifications

As a faculty member in the Department of Hospitality and Retail Management, you will be expected to :

  • Candidates must hold a Master's Degree (MS) in merchandising and retail or closely related degree.
  • We invite applicants with teaching interests in fashion merchandising, retail, CPG, apparel, and / or textiles. Candidates should have a demonstrated record or a record indicative of teaching in an academic environment, preferably at the college level.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply :

  • A Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) (or earn a Ph.D by August 31, 2026) in fashion merchandising and / or retail or closely related degree.
  • A strong history of retail industry experience.
  • Experience with and interest in teaching a wide variety of retail-related courses.
  • A strong commitment to excellence in teaching (evidenced by positive teaching evaluations, teaching awards, etc.).
  • Ability to teach in a multi-disciplinary environment.
