Overview

Feeding America is the nation’s largest nonprofit and domestic hunger-relief organization. It engages communities in the fight to end hunger and addresses barriers so everyone can thrive. The organization operates a nationwide network of over 200 food banks, regional cooperatives, and partner state associations that distribute food through 60,000 partner food pantries and meal programs, providing more than 5 billion meals and supporting programs to improve food security for families. Feeding America advocates for policies addressing the root causes of hunger and innovates solutions that increase fair access to nutritious food.

• Transform measurement and data through data sharing and technology across the network

The Opportunity

Position : Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Location : Chicago Office (Potentially Hybrid) / Travel – Over 30%

Position Summary

The CEO serves as the visible and inspirational leader of one of America’s largest charities, aligned with the Board of Directors. The Chief Executive Officer leads the development and execution of Feeding America’s strategy to ensure neighbors across the country have more pathways to sustained food and nutrition security. The CEO is responsible for leading and building a team of approximately 390 employees and fostering an open, inclusive culture centered on people facing hunger. The CEO oversees a $350 million budget that supports a $5.15 billion organization, and steers relationships with neighbors facing food insecurity, donors, legislators, and the Feeding America network of partner food banks, state associations, affiliate food banks, and 60,000 agencies nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the chief advocate for Feeding America and its nationwide network; act as a spokesperson and influencer on a broad range of issues.

Translate vision and mission into tangible strategic plans and cultural expectations.

Develop and maintain strategic alliances with key stakeholders including neighbors, government, corporations, community-based organizations, and academia.

Construct a streamlined organizational structure that attracts diverse talent and ensures the right people are in the right roles.

Serve as the primary link to the Board of Directors, advising on operations and governance; support policy development.

Compensation

Salary Range : $650,000 – 750,000. This position is eligible for an annual bonus plan with target at 30% and offers a comprehensive Feeding America benefits package.
