The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems in a chemical plant environment. This role includes working with high- and low-voltage equipment, PLC systems, and process instrumentation while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Technicians must be able to read schematics and P&IDs, perform physical labor, and support preventative maintenance and emergency response efforts as needed.
What you will be doing :
Troubleshoot, repair, and install electronic and pneumatic instrumentation and controlsPerform electrical work on motors, switchgear, VFDs, and lighting systems up to 2300 voltsRead and interpret schematics and P&IDs from engineering packagesConduct inspections and maintenance in railcar and loading areasOperate manlifts, forklifts, and hand tools; bend and install conduit up to 2"Conduct preventive maintenance on instrumentation and small gauge wiringInstall and repair control valves and piping componentsParticipate in emergency repairs and unscheduled calloutsRequired Qualifications :
Minimum 3 years of relevant I&E experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentHigh school diploma or GED required; technical school certificate or associate degree preferredStrong understanding of process control instrumentation, PLCs, and DCS systemsProficiency in reading schematics, P&IDs, and performing control loop checksWorking knowledge of basic chemistry and mechanical systemsModerate computer skills; able to use MS Office and digital documentation toolsPhysically able to lift heavy equipment, climb, kneel, and work in confined spacesMust be able to work outdoors and in all weather conditionsCompletion of applicable safety and technical training including NFPA-70E and OSHA
