Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Tax Manager at Carter & Company. Tax Manager will be responsible for supervising staff and coordinating engagements. Their responsibilities include planning the engagement, supervising, and reviewing staff work. In addition, they will be responsible for tax planning strategies and business advisory to maintain federal and state tax compliance. This role is located in Destin, FL, with flexibility for some remote work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide tax compliance for partnerships, not-for-profits, and corporations
  • Develop client relationships by providing timely and accurate client service to exceed client expectations
  • Effectively delegate responsibilities and monitor efforts of the tax team
  • Review returns prepared by tax staff
  • Research complex tax issues, apply findings in appropriate manner, and clearly communicate those findings with the clients and fellow tax staff
  • Implement knowledge of federal and state tax law updates as applicable

Educational Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and current CPA license
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in real estate industry
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Strong sense of ownership of services performed and overseen
  • Proficiency in management oversight and working well as a team
  • Experience with multi-entity business structures and real estate transactions
  • Advanced tax research skills in federal and state tax laws
  • Computer literate, particularly Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Suite, tax return software (CCH ProSystem FX tax preferred), research software (CCH, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
