Summary :
Perform various Nuclear Medicine, PET / CT and therapy procedures and prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals.
Responsibilities :
Performs procedures and ensures radiopharmaceuticals used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes are handles, prepared, administered and disposed of properly.
Performs TC-99m generator elutions, maintaining aspectic techniques, checking for Moly contamination, assaying elution and maintaining appropriate documentation.
Orders radionuclides and pharmaceutical kits from suppliers when necessary.
Performs surveys and wipe tests for contamination in department at required intervals and performs decontamination procedures when necessary.
Reviews non routine studies prior to releasing patients to avoid unnecessary revisits to department.
Prepares patients for procedures and explains nature of each exam. Gives proper instruction prior to , during, and following procedures.
Reviews status and type of procedure to be performed on patients to and coordinates exams with those scheduled in other imaging department sections to ensure procedures are sequenced properly, equipment utilization is maximized and patient wait time is minimized.
Protects patients, employees and self from excessive exposure and follows "As Low As Reasonably Achievable" (ALARA) guidelines at all times.
