Psychology of Intergroup Relations, Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology :

The Department of Psychology at Colby College is hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2026. We seek a colleague whose research investigates psychological processes and interpersonal consequences related to social group memberships. The ideal candidate’s work will address topics such as how people perceive, interpret, and navigate group-based distinctions and disparities. We welcome applications from multiple areas of psychology, including developmental, health, and social psychology. Potential areas of research expertise could include, but are not limited to, social identity, stereotyping and prejudice, group disparities in life outcomes, the psychological experiences of marginalized groups, or the dynamics of social change. Tenure-track faculty at Colby teach 4.5 courses per year. Teaching responsibilities for this position will include introductory and advanced courses in the candidate’s area of psychology, as well as instruction within the department’s methodology and statistics sequence. The successful candidate will also supervise independent student research and provide academic / career advising. We are especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and / or community-building and governance activities will contribute to a vibrant academic community and support the College’s mission of preparing students for a complex and interconnected world.
