Right Of Way Maintenance Technician
Develops and implements maintenance plans for right of way areas, including vegetation control, brush clearing, and erosion control measures.
Mows and maintains 400+ miles of force main and gravity sewer rights-of-way, mow / cut ahead of contractors, and other crews as needed by the business. This includes the use of tractors, pole saws, chain saws and brush cutters.
Ensures compliance with environmental regulations and best practices in right of way maintenance.
Collaborates with supervisor to plan and coordinates maintenance activities and ensures alignment with project timelines and objectives.
Schedules and allocates resources effectively to meet project requirements.
Performs creek bank repair, creek crossing repair, and right-of-way repair.
Assists and / or performs repair of wastewater collection system force mains, gravity lines, creek banks, and other collection system components.
Provides direction and guidance and ensures tasks are completed safely, efficiently and effectively.
Provides training and leadership of crew members as assigned.
Receives reviews and assigns work orders to crew members.
Helps coordinate and oversee the work of contractors as assigned.
Determines the necessary equipment, materials, and personnel to accomplish assigned tasks.
Reviews property ownership / county right-of-way documentation as necessary and safety assessment before beginning clearing projects and identifies and marks trees for removal.
Orders and / or requests supplies, parts, materials, tools, and equipment necessary for daily activities.
Hauls equipment (excavator, mini track loader, backhoe, etc.) and supplies to work sites.
Operates heavy and specialized equipment as necessary, including but not limited to trucks, trailers, track hoes, back hoes, front-end loaders, bull dozers, motor graders, to mow grass, remove vegetation, cut, and remove trees with use of chain saws, etc.
Applies herbicides to control vegetation growth.
Installs fencing and gates along right-of-way as needed.
Performs routine landscaping work as necessary at the completion of maintenance and repair projects to repair property damage.
Assists in inspecting sewer lines, manholes and creek crossings for maintenance requirements.
Provides traffic control at work sites to ensure citizen / crew safety.
Inspects work in progress and at completion for compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed.
Inspects equipment for proper and safe working condition; maintains assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Receives and responds to inquiries, complaints, and requests for assistance in areas of responsibility.
Works on call 24 hours per day as scheduled for emergency response.
Attends meetings, training, workshops, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Management may assign additional duties as trained for and qualified to do so related to the work of the position as necessary.
