Forestry Technician II - Horticulture

This position provides for the maintenance of all public landscape beds throughout the community that includes the design, installation and maintenance of annual floral beds. The work is accomplished by trash pickup, leaf cleanup, mulching, planting, weeding, watering, fertilizing and pruning or rejuvenating shrubs, grasses or trees. The position is also responsible for the minor repair and maintenance of irrigation systems in the landscape beds and manages the maintenance of vehicles, water pumps, tillers, weed-eaters, hedge trimmers and leaf blowers. Duties will also include managing municipal greenhouse operations, as well as overseeing and directing the work of one full time employee and various seasonal staff.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills :

• Two years grounds maintenance, arboricultural, horticultural or related experience;
• Possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record;
• Knowledge in the use of hand pruning tools;
• Knowledge of horticultural maintenance, planting and pruning techniques;
• Basic computer skills desired with ability to maintain and access accurate records.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
