POSITION PURPOSE :
This position ensures products meet industry standards and ASME codes by inspecting, testing, and measuring materials / products, maintaining records, and collaborating with other departments to resolve quality issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES :
- Aid in functioning the Manufacturing quality program including quality procedures, processes, standards, training, planning and documentation. Manufacturing Design.
- Review drawings and fabrication documentation for discrepancies and assist in determining the proper quality procedures and processes to apply, document and report discrepancies.
- Monitor internal and external quality and adherence to designated manufacturing processes, documentation and procedures.
- Assist in monitoring and verifying welding procedures and welding qualifications.
- Perform product quality inspections independently including, but not limited to receiving, fit up, in-process and final.
- Material verification : They check that base metals and welding consumables (electrodes, filler wires, etc.) conform to material specifications and are properly stored and controlled.
- Documentation and reporting : The inspector maintains comprehensive records of all inspection activities, including documenting non-conformance issues, and prepares detailed reports for clients, management, or regulatory bodies.
- Provide quality directions to craftsmen, supervisors and managers to complete assigned projects on time and accurately.
- Assist in directing rework of projects and ensure quality workmanship standards. Notify Senior Team Leader and Production Manager of any notable re-work.
- Assist in identifying and resolving non-conformances following proper protocol and procedures, document and report non-conformances to the Manufacturing Quality Manager.
- Assist in training employees in quality procedures and processes.
- Assure quality control of assigned projects; follow methods of continuous improvement; communicate with supervision to understand project scope and proper procedures; oversee project / product quality control and assurance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable AWS / ASME code(s) as determined per project.
- Calibration of all required shop tools; document and file calibration reports. This includes but is not limited to Squares, Degree finders, levels and tape measures.
- Ensure a clean and organized workspace; adhere to ICM policies including safety policies.
- Ensure measuring devices, gauges, and instruments are calibrated and certified.
- Ability to work independently and travel for project quality completion as necessary.
Education / Certification :
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Required Knowledge & Experience :
5 plus years’ experience welding and fabricating experience, preferredAWS CWI or CWS requiredExperience in welding techniques and processes such as GTAW,FCAW, SAW, GMAW in the short circuit and spray transfer processes requiredNDT experience level II in MT, PT a plus.Skills / Abilities :
Possess capability to perform and teach quality welding techniques at an advanced level; must be willing to learn and participate in continuing educationAbility to analyze and interpret various weld defects and the correction of eachAbility to read, understand and apply weld proceduresAbility to read, analyze and interpret blueprints requiredAbility to use tape measures, squares, levels, various layout tools, micrometers, dial indicators, weld gages and various basic calibration standardsAbility to identify beam, angle, channel, plate and other types of materials by size, thickness, and typePossess excellent communication skills; provide leadership and constructive feedback on projectsAble to multi-task, maintain organization, and operate in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environmentMust be a task-orientated team player with initiativeAble to plan and prioritize projects and stay on schedulePHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
Must possess current, valid driver’s license with no restrictions. Travel could be up to 5%. Manufacturing and office environment may be exposed to extremes in temperature, hazardous or moving equipment, loud noises, and crowded environments continually. May be required to work at elevations of up to 60 feet. You must possess a valid driver’s license. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Able to view computer screen for lengths at a time. Fine visual acuity to read and inspect for accuracy. Travel required as necessary to complete projects.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH :
