Pay Rate : $42.00 - $55.00 / Hourly (based on experience) + Full Benefits
Dean's Professional Services is actively seeking a Histotechnologist I who serves as the face of our organization, providing exceptional service.
The Histotechnologist I is responsible for performing both routine and complex activities related to the preparation of tissue specimens for microscopic evaluation by pathologists. This role ensures accurate accessioning, processing, embedding, and staining of tissue samples while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The Histotechnologist I also provides guidance to junior staff and assists in maintaining laboratory operations to support timely and precise diagnostic results.
Job Responsibilities :
- Accession and label all tissue samples accurately and ensure proper documentation.
- Process, embed, and section tissue specimens according to established laboratory protocols.
- Prepare slides for Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining and perform coverslipping (manual or automated).
- Prepare and perform special staining procedures, including solution and reagent preparation.
- May prepare and perform Immunohistochemistry (IHC) testing, including validation of control materials.
- Maintain and file finished blocks and slides for accurate recordkeeping.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and cleaning of laboratory equipment; troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
- Document all quality control activities, equipment maintenance, and remedial actions.
- Train and mentor Histotechnicians, students, and lab aides as needed.
- Ensure adherence to laboratory quality assurance and safety standards, including CLIA, CAP, and corporate policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in a related field required.ASCP certification (HT or HTL) required.Previous experience as a Histotechnician or equivalent histology laboratory experience required.Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and related laboratory procedures.Understanding of laboratory quality control and safety regulations (CLIA, CAP, OSHA).Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and documentation skills.Ability to work independently and provide training and guidance to others.Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance in all laboratory activities.Why Join Us?
