Overview

Substation Design Engineer role at Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI).

Responsibilities

  • Conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations.
  • Material procurement, construction and commissioning / startup support through energization.
  • Development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications.
  • Under the oversight and mentorship of a project engineer, assist in the execution of projects with coordination, quality control and oversight of designers, drafters and support staff.
  • Coordinate with ECI discipline groups such as Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA Integration) and Transmission & Distribution Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of design engineering experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.
  • Progress toward PE licensure is encouraged.
  • Fundamental knowledge of power engineering principles and applicable codes and standards.
  • Occasional travel / driving required; subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
