Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

Healthcare Setting : Community Hospital – Labor & Delivery Unit

Start Date : November 24, 2025

End Date : February 23, 2026

Contract Duration : 13 weeks

Nursing Shift : Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19 : 00 – 07 : 30)

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1930–$2070

Patient Age Groups : Neonates, Adolescents, Adults

Weekend / Holiday Coverage : Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled

Floating : Required within Labor & Delivery and Mother / Baby units

Charting System : Epic

Labor & Delivery RN Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (2 years preferred)

Active Maryland RN License or Compact RN License (required)

BLS, ACLS, NCC C-EFM certifications (required)

NRP certification (NRP or AAP only)

STABLE, CPI, NIH certifications preferred

Experience with Epic charting system preferred

Ability to float within all areas of Labor & Delivery, Mother / Baby, and Postpartum departments

Two professional references from recent employers (one supervisor / manager, one charge RN)

Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a Level 1 Well Baby Nursery

Assist with vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, and obstetric triage

Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and support breastfeeding / lactation

Administer medications including magnesium sulfate, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, and pain management

Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using EFM (External Fetal Monitoring) and IUPC

Educate and support parents on newborn care, discharge teaching, and car seat safety

Float as needed to Mother / Baby and postpartum units

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, and Social Services

Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic

Participate in orientation and ongoing compliance modules as required
