Employment & Labor Associate Attorney

Our global client in Kansas City is seeking a mid-level associate with excellent academic credentials and 2-6 years of employment practice experience. In addition to having a strong knowledge of employment law, including restrictive covenant law, the ideal candidate will have experience handling and managing employment litigation matters and providing employment advice and counsel. The associate hired for this position will work with partners and be a key member of their team. Expected responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to :

  • Assisting in day-to-day employment and human-resources counseling for clients
  • Reviewing, analyzing and drafting employment agreements, employee handbooks, severance agreements and other employment documents
  • Handling and managing employment-litigation matters, including non-compete disputes, single-plaintiff employment cases and administrative matters
  • Taking and defending depositions in employment-litigation matters and managing written-discovery phrases of litigation matters
  • Working with the Kansas City, national, and international teams to provide guidance to domestic and overseas clients on sensitive personnel issues and policy review and implementation
  • Supporting employment aspects of due diligence in mergers and acquisitions, including reviewing employment provisions of asset and stock purchase agreements
  • Assisting with formulating legal strategy on litigation matters
  • Supporting the team by performing work on other matters, as needed, including commercial litigation matters from time to time
