Health and Safety Specialist

Overview

Cleveland-Cliffs Dearborn Works is currently seeking a Health and Safety Specialist at our Dearborn Works location. This role works to provide a safe environment for steel production by performing regular audits at the work site, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing standard safety protocols.

Responsibilities

Assist in the formation and enforcement of safety rules and regulations in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and other related guidelines.

Involvement with incident investigations, correction and prevention of safety hazards and OSHA compliance.

Interaction with UAW health and safety representatives as well as outside contractors.

Coordination and instruction of safety training and seminars.

Participating in safety audits.

Follow company policy regarding all health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Inspect facilities to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.

Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.

All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills required.

Proficiency MS Office products such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Excellent organizational and writing skills are a must.

Excellent communication skills.

Must be detail oriented.

Capacity to multitask.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Occupational Health Safety Engineering
