American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) position requiring two years of PICU experience and strong EVD and trach / vent skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care PICU setting with 12 beds (census varies seasonally)Typical nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 2Serve a pediatric patient population including trach / vent cases, DKA, respiratory, surgical cases (trachs, g-tubes, shunts, hernia repairs, seizures), with no cardiac casesUnit uses Epic EMR; Epic experience is preferred but not required12-hour day shifts (7a-7p) with weekends as needed; weekend requirement is 5 shifts in 6 weeksFrequent floating to Peds, NICU, and patient sitter assignments is requiredNo call requirementsMust interpret own telemetry strips; titration of drips (propofol, fentanyl, epi, etc.) requiredNo nurse aids or patient care techs on unit; charge nurse present and does not take a patient assignmentPrimary responsibilities include caring for high-acuity pediatric patients and managing drips and advanced respiratory equipmentRNs required to troubleshoot and operate vents, bubble CPAP, and BiPAPScrub color is flexible; any color may be wornExpect to work at least one holiday during the contractTwo 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation will be providedFirst time travelers are welcome to applyPermanent employees must be away from the facility for one year before applying for a travel assignment\n \n Requirements\n
Active ID or compact RN license at time of applicationBachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) requiredMinimum of 2 years recent PICU experienceCurrent BLS and PALS certifications requiredEVD and trach / vent experience is mandatoryDriver’s license required for considerationMust provide two professional references : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 yearsMust reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility\n Benefits\n
