Job Summary :
We are seeking an experienced Compounding Operator to join our production team. This role is responsible for operating and monitoring pelletized extrusion equipment used in compounding engineering thermoplastics. The Compounding Operator ensures production runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality standards, while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
Set up, operate, and monitor extrusion compounding equipment to produce pelletized engineering thermoplastics according to specifications.
Load raw materials (resins, additives, colorants) into feeders and hoppers, ensuring accurate formulations.
Adjust machine settings (temperature, pressure, screw speed, etc.) to optimize production and meet quality standards.
Perform in-process inspections of material (pellet size, color, dispersion, and physical properties) and make necessary adjustments.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical or processing issues to minimize downtime.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and production schedules to meet output goals.
Maintain accurate production records, including material usage, run conditions, and quality data.
Assist in preventive maintenance and cleaning of extrusion equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Adhere to safety guidelines, quality standards, and housekeeping practices in the work area.
Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to support process improvements and new product trials.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in plastics, extrusion, or manufacturing preferred.
Prior experience in extrusion compounding operations, particularly with engineering thermoplastics, required.
Knowledge of pelletizing systems, material handling equipment, and polymer processing.
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to adjust equipment and troubleshoot processing issues.
Familiarity with process control systems, measurement tools, and quality testing procedures.
Ability to follow detailed work instructions and maintain accurate documentation.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving machinery.
