Director of Specialty Pharmacy
Position Summary
The Director of Specialty Pharmacy is responsible for leading and overseeing all operations of the organization’s specialty pharmacy, ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and financial performance. This role provides strategic direction, develops and implements business plans, and fosters relationships with providers, payers, and manufacturers to optimize access to specialty medications. The Director manages staff, budgets, and workflows to support clinical excellence, patient safety, and service growth while driving innovation and efficiency within the specialty pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides strategic leadership to develop and expand the specialty pharmacy program, aligning clinical, operational, and financial goals.
- Leads, mentors, and motivates pharmacists, liaisons, and support staff to ensure excellence in patient care and provider satisfaction.
- Oversees compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and limited distribution drug requirements.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with health system leadership, pharmaceutical manufacturers, payors, and other external partners.
- Directs project management efforts for new initiatives, ensuring timely and effective execution.
- Monitors performance metrics, budgets, and financial outcomes, making data-driven improvements.
- Stays current in specialty pharmacy practices, accreditation standards, and market trends.
- Collaborates with corporate and clinical stakeholders to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of Pharmacist experience required. Previous Specialty Pharmacy experience preferred.Doctor of Pharmacy degree (or) Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.Strong knowledge of specialty medications, pharmacy operations, and regulatory requirements.Demonstrated leadership experience with direct responsibility for staff management.Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.PI5954be073e91-30511-38564829
