Director, Global Value Access & Strategy
Location : Boston, MA (3 days onsite, 2 days remote weekly)
Company is expanding its Global Value and Access Strategy (GVAS) team to support the launch and ongoing access strategy for product. Market Access is a critical function ensuring innovative therapies are appropriately funded and reach patients globally. GVAS partners across functions and geographies to embed payer perspectives into development and access planning throughout the lifecycle. The Director, Global Value & Access Strategy, product will drive launch readiness and long-term access planning for product. This individual will be responsible for shaping global pricing and access strategy, value communication, and cross-functional alignment. The role also includes leadership of cross-portfolio strategic initiatives to anticipate and address evolving global payer expectations. This position reports to the Global Value & Access Strategy Lead.
Key Responsibilities
Launch readiness for new indication(s) :
- Partner cross-functionally and across regions to define a robust, differentiated value proposition and integrated evidence plan to support global access
- Lead the development of global pricing strategy, payment models, and negotiation approaches
- Oversee creation of strategic payer plans and alignment on evidence generation priorities
- Deliver both unbranded and branded payer value communication tools and lead internal training efforts
Lifecycle planning & value optimization :
Shape indication sequencing and long-term access strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teamsIdentify and prioritize evidence needed to support access-enabling trials and optimize perceived valueEnsure payer needs and perspectives are reflected across strategic planning processes (e.g., clinical development, regulatory, commercial strategy)Collaborate closely with HEOR, regional access leads, medical affairs, clinical teams, and corporate functions to ensure alignmentMonitor evolving market dynamics, competitor activities, and payer policies to adjust access plans accordinglyQualifications
8+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and / or payer / reimbursement environmentDeep knowledge of U.S. and ex-U.S. healthcare systems; global or specialty disease experience is a plusStrategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to craft compelling pricing and market access recommendationsProactive, self-driven, and results-oriented with strong collaboration and influencing skillsSolid understanding of health economics, value assessment frameworks, and payer evidence requirementsExperienced in cross-functional collaboration within matrixed global organizationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to senior leadershipProven ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams and geographiesStrong ethics and alignment with Vertexs core valuesEducation
Bachelors degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferredThis range reflects our estimate for base salary at the time of posting. Additional compensation includes an annual bonus, equity awards, and other benefits aligned with Companys Total Rewards program.
