About TANN
TANN Corporation is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and maintenance of air pollution control equipment. We deliver custom-designed systems and turnkey solutions, with thermal oxidizers installed around the globe in applications spanning automotive, aerospace, food processing, chemical manufacturing, and more.
A Day in This Role
Start your shift reviewing complex blueprints and welding symbols. Set up MIG and Pulse MIG parameters, then fit, tack, and weld components to tight tolerances across multiple positions—flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead. You’ll move between building structural frames and platforms, fabricating with jigs and fixtures, and verifying weld quality to internal and external standards. You’ll also shift gears to measure, cut, and install industrial insulation on piping, tanks, vessels, and ductwork—adding jacketing and sealants for weather or corrosion control, and replacing damaged insulation when needed. Throughout the day, you’ll collaborate with engineering and quality, troubleshoot issues, keep equipment in top condition, and operate shop machinery and material handling equipment to move heavy components.
Core Responsibilities Fabrication & Welding
Execute high-quality MIG and Pulse MIG welds on various metals and thicknesses.Interpret detailed fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols accurately.Fit, tack, and weld to precise dimensions and tolerances; verify weld quality and compliance.Use hand / power tools, layout equipment, and custom jigs / fixtures; help design fixtures as needed.Operate press brakes, band saws, shears, grinders, and other fabrication machinery.Install and repair metal frames, structural supports, platforms, and piping.Maintain welding equipment for optimal performance and consistent results.Work independently with minimal supervision; problem-solve and troubleshoot in real time.Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and lifting devices to handle heavy assemblies.Industrial Insulation
Measure and cut insulation (fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate, elastomeric foam, and other industrial grades).Install insulation on pipes, tanks, vessels, and ducting to manage temperature and energy loss.Apply jacketing and sealants for outdoor / corrosive environments.Remove and replace outdated or damaged insulation materials.Ensure all work aligns with applicable codes and safety standards.Qualifications Required
5+ years in welding / fabrication within manufacturing or custom fabrication environments.Advanced MIG skills including Pulse MIG; experience with stainless and carbon steel is a plus.Fluent in blueprint reading; strong layout and metal fitting using precision measuring tools.Capability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).Familiar with common welding codes / standards and quality inspection practices.Strong mechanical aptitude, exceptional attention to detail, and commitment to quality and continuous improvement.Effective working solo or on a team in a fast-paced setting; reliable, punctual attendance.Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, and in hot or cold conditions.Ability to follow both verbal and written work orders.Preferred
Forklift and overhead crane operation experience. Background in lean manufacturing / 5S.Welding program diploma, related coursework, or equivalent experience.OSHA 10 / 30 certification.Knowledge of metallurgy and advanced welding techniques.Familiarity with industrial insulation materials and methods.High mechanical aptitude and strong physical stamina.Physical Demands
Good overall health with strong focus, coordination, balance, and vision (close work, depth, and peripheral).Comfortable in shop conditions (heat, noise, dust, and associated odors).Consistent use of PPE including welding helmet, gloves, and safety glasses.Frequent pulling, pushing, reaching, climbing, kneeling, crawling, fine hand work, and prolonged standing.Regularly lift / move 25–50 lbs; frequently handle 50–75 lbs with a teammate or mechanical assist.Exposure to heavy steel fabrication, welding, painting, and assembly activities.Possible exposure to varying outdoor weather and temperature extremes.Safety
Engineering clean air is built on safe practices. Safety is a core value at TANN Corporation, and strict protocols are followed by employees, contractors, and visitors.
Mandatory PPE includes :
Safety glasses in all designated production and installation areas.Steel-toe boots across manufacturing and job site environments.Hearing protection in high-noise areas or when using loud equipment.Gloves when handling sheet metal, tools, or hazardous materials.High-visibility apparel on job sites or near moving equipment.Hard hats in manufacturing and job site settings.Proficiencies
