Destination Sales Intern

As the Destination Sales Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in tourism sales, marketing, and client relations while supporting Visit Durango's sales team. This paid, part-time internship offers a flexible schedule of up to 14 hours per week to fit your school commitments. In this role, you'll help manage Visit Durango's customer relationship management (CRM) system and contact lists, assist with requests for proposals, and respond to data requests that guide strategic decisions. You'll play an active role in projects that strengthen Durango as a destination, while also building your communication and customer service skills. Along the way, you'll gain exposure to the field of destination marketing and management and see how sales efforts connect with broader goals of sustainable tourism and community well-being across La Plata County. What You'll Do in This Role :

  • Help maintain databases to support informed decisions and planning.
  • Respond to requests for data from community members and stakeholders.
  • Assist in managing the Visit Durango customer relationship management (CRM) database.
  • Support the upkeep of the tour operator and meeting planner contact database, keeping it accurate and useful.
  • Work with the Destination Sales Specialist and Destination Communications Strategist to plan itineraries for familiarization tours and site visits.
  • Assist with the in-person coordination of tours and site visits.
  • Track and manage requests for proposals (RFPs), respond to leads, distribute information, and follow up with contacts.

You Have :

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent and are currently an undergraduate student or a recent college graduate.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally.
  • Stay organized, manage your time well, and reliably complete tasks.
  • Are curious, eager to learn, and comfortable using computers and new software.
