Job Title : Director of Rehabilitation
Location : Brooklyn Park, MD
- Minutes outside Baltimore
Reports To : Administrator / Executive Director
Position Summary :
The Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic oversight of the rehabilitation department within a skilled nursing facility. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to residents, promoting recovery, functional independence, and optimal quality of life. The Director ensures regulatory compliance, staff development, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Management
Oversee all rehab staff including Physical Therapists (PTs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), therapy assistants, and aides.Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate rehab personnel.Ensure adequate staffing to meet resident needs while managing labor costs.Clinical Oversight
Ensure all therapy services meet applicable state and federal regulations, including Medicare / Medicaid guidelines and facility policies.Monitor resident progress, clinical outcomes, and care plans in coordination with nursing and medical staff.Participate in care plan meetings and ensure timely documentation in the EMR.Operations & Compliance
Maintain accurate billing and documentation practices in accordance with payor requirements.Ensure all therapists are properly licensed and maintain continuing education as required.Monitor department budgets, productivity, and key performance indicators.Resident & Family Engagement
Serve as a resource for residents and families regarding therapy plans and goals.Address concerns, provide education, and support discharge planning and transition of care.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent).Current state licensure in the respective discipline.Minimum 3 years of rehab experience in a SNF, with at least 1 year in a leadership role preferred.Strong knowledge of Medicare Part A and B billing and SNF PPS rules.Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
