We offer our clients a truly international perspective and believe every career should be rewarding and stimulating – full of opportunities to learn, thrive, and grow. We're proud of our inclusive, friendly, and team-based approach to work.

Whichever area of the business you join, you'll become an integral part of an innovative, diverse and ambitious team. Clifford Chance is a place where the brightest minds and the best of colleagues meet.

The Role

Clifford Chance is the world's largest fully integrated law firm committed to leadership and innovation in legal service. We are global market leaders in all major areas of legal advice, and we aim to attract and retain the best people by investing in, developing, and nurturing our talent. Our Legal Project Management (LPM) team is market-leading and embedded within priority Client relationship teams and Global Business Units (GBUs). You will be aligned to one of our GBUs, impacting how we deliver high-end, complex legal advice to our biggest clients.

You will work on client matters and deals as a core part of the client team, recording time against matters, tracking workstreams, monitoring resourcing, managing budgets, and integrating innovative solutions into large projects. You will bring new ideas and expertise to an evolving role within a rapidly changing legal market.

Responsibilities

  • You will assist with the preparation of all project initiation documentation – such as scope, resourcing and budget proposals for relevant matters or workstreams, and then track progress against those proposals.
  • You will dissect problems and processes and apply logical and analytical approaches to solving them.
  • You will positively influence individuals across roles and seniorities to adapt their ways of working.
  • You will clearly explain theoretical concepts to senior stakeholders, including clients, and adjust your delivery approach as needed.
  • You will manage effective planning over the short, medium and long term, and execute against those plans (e.g., documenting minutes, actions, tracking workstreams). Throughout each project you will :

Continually assess issues and implement pragmatic solutions to move the programme forward.

  • Identify risks (e.g., conflicting deadlines or skill gaps) and provide alternative mitigation.
  • Monitor accruals and manage the project against agreed budgets including scope changes.
  • You will advise, recommend and engage with legal technology tools to support efficient delivery.
  • You will demonstrate advanced knowledge of Best Delivery technology and set up technology to support delivery.
  • You will assess activities and ensure appropriate task delegation to Legal Project Analyst teams.
  • You will take feedback and adapt your style and plans accordingly.
  • You will deliver presentations and facilitate workshops and participate in client pitches.
  • You will work directly with Clients, positively representing Clifford Chance, including client-site work as required.
  • Qualifications / Experience

You will have either (i) a background in project management or legal operations, ideally within a professional services or complex matrix environment, or (ii) experience as a lawyer with matter management exposure. A qualification or industry-recognised certification in project management would be desirable but is not essential, as we support team members to obtain these qualifications. Collaboration, influencing and internal networking are key skills for this role.

    How we will support you

We invest in training and career development, offering support for externally recognised project management qualifications (e.g., APM and others), change management and technology training. You will have access to our global training and development centre, the Academy, and immediate integration into our global LPM community across offices.

Wherever you join in our network, you will be a core member of the regional and global team with local support from champion Partners and Practice Area Managers.
