Responsibilities :
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorization for medical procedures and treatments
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Assign appropriate medical codes for billing and reimbursement purposes
- Communicate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve authorization issues
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of authorizations
Experience :
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a dental or medical officeProficient in insurance verification processes and proceduresKnowledge of ICD-9 coding system and medical terminologyFamiliarity with managed care plans and authorization requirementsExperience with medical coding and billing practicesStrong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record keepingSkills :
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectivelyProficient in using electronic health record systems and other relevant software applicationsKnowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy lawsAs an Authorization Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that medical procedures are properly authorized and documented.
