Overview
AC Transit is actively recruiting for the position of Senior Body Mechanic. Under general supervision, the Senior Body Mechanic inspects and removes, repairs, adjusts and repairs metal, fiberglass, and glass components on buses and all other types of District vehicles.

Responsibilities
Experience, Education & Additional Requirements
Experience : A minimum of one year as a skilled professional Body Repair Mechanic in a body shop specializing in heavy-duty body and fender repair. For INTERNAL CANDIDATES : successful completion of an auto body related certificate of achievement, or equivalent, from an accredited community college, vocational or technical school. Candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge and ability to safely perform the functions of the job.
Education : Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.
Additional Requirements : (1) Must pass a performance test of requisite skills, including the use of a plasma cutter, and MIG welding. (2) Must possess, or obtain and maintain all tools necessary to perform the functions of the classification. (3) Must pass a physical examination regarding the ability to use a respirator.
License Requirement : Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain a valid California Class C Driver License, and meet the District's safe driving standards.
Safe Driving Standards : Applicants must meet the District's safe driving standards including 21 years of age; 3 years of driving with a regular license; no more than one moving violation in the past three years; no at-fault accidents in the past three years; no "Failures to Appear" or "Failures to Pay" in the last three years; no suspensions in the last three years; no Reckless Driving or DUI in the last seven years.
Physical Requirements : Must possess the physical condition necessary to perform the following on a frequent or continual basis : stand, move within a large maintenance facility, access service bays, sit while reviewing or preparing work orders and other paperwork, bend, squat, stoop, turn, climb, kneel, twist, perform fine hand and finger manipulations, push / pull, lift and carry heavy objects up to 70 lbs, and use lifting equipment for heavier items.
