Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Normal, IL 61761 (Central Illinois nursing jobs)

Healthcare Setting : Cardiac Stepdown Unit

Contract Duration : 20 weeks (Start : 11 / 3 / 2025 – End : 3 / 21 / 2026)

Shift : Day shifts, Monday–Friday, 7 : 30 AM–6 : 00 PM

Shift Length : 10 hours

Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week

On-Call : Every 3rd weekend and 4–8 additional weekdays per month

Estimated Weekly Salary : $2620–$2690

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or compact state (Illinois nursing jobs)

Minimum 1 year of recent experience in cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or acute care nursing

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care in the cardiac stepdown unit, following clinical protocols and best practices

Implement nursing procedures and theories for cardiac and pulmonary patient care

Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans

Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and document care using electronic medical records (EMR)

Prepare patients for cardiac procedures, manage pain, perform IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitor laboratory results

Evaluate patient progress, modify care plans as needed, and ensure quality patient outcomes

Delegate nursing tasks appropriately, provide follow-up, and maintain professional communication with the healthcare team

Participate in conflict management, offer constructive feedback, and support a positive work environment

Maintain accurate documentation and fulfill all departmental competencies
