Chief Of Advanced Practice
The LCMC Health Chief of Advanced Practice (CAP) is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, operational management, and professional development of all Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and other APP roles) across the LCMC Health System's hospitals, outpatient clinics, and affiliated practices. The CAP will serve as the system-wide leader, advocate, and subject matter expert for APP practice, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care that aligns with LCMC Health's mission and strategic goals.
General Duties
Recruitment
- Develop and execute outreach strategies to recruit APPs, including partnerships with regional APP training institutions and presence at regional and national events.
- Foster relationships with academic institutions to create trainee opportunities within LCMC APP teams.
- Collaborate with LCMC Health Academic Affairs to create a Healthcare Provider Pipeline for NPs and PAs
Training
Design a standardized orientation and training program for newly hired APPs.Ensure consistent competency standards among APPs during training.Establish a semi-annual evaluation and feedback process for APPs.Partner with physicians to enhance APP training and continuing education.Leadership and Management
Provide visionary leadership for the integration and optimization of APP practice across all LCMC Health entities.Partner with executive leadership, physician leaders, nursing leaders, and operational teams to align APP practice with the system's clinical and operational goals.Develop and implement system-wide strategies to advance APP utilization, care quality, and patient access.Represent APP interests in executive forums, board committees, and external organizations as appropriate.Collaborate with the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Critical Care to assess resource needs and recommend staffing models for APPs.Develop business plans to support the recruitment, deployment and retention of APPs across LCMC Health.Decrease turnover of APPs to at or below the national averageFoster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and accountability among APPs.Implement retention strategies to maintain high-performing, cohesive teams.Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and create professional growth plans for APP leaders.Oversee the performance of APP leaders at each hospital.Act as a liaison among APPs, physicians, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams.Represent APPs in committees, strategic planning, and quality improvement initiatives.Operational Oversight
Oversee the function of the LCMC Health Office of Advanced Practice and divisions of APPs in the LCMC Health SystemPerform needs assessments for new requests for APP servicesDecrease use of locums / contract APPs to a minimal levelEnsure onboarded APPs are educated in how to perform professional billing and monitor the productivity of APPs professional billing at least quarterlyEstablish standardized APP practice models, workflows, and metrics to ensure consistency and efficiency across the system.Collaborate with service line leaders to evaluate staffing models and optimize APP coverage in all care settings.Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to APP practice.Manage APP workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies.Collaborate with administrative leaders on budgeting, resource allocation, and operational objectives.Develop and monitor policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure adherence to institutional, state, and national standards.Analyze metrics and clinical outcomes to drive continuous quality improvement.Submit business proposal or pro forma when capital is needed for any operationsOther operational activities otherwise assigned by the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Critical Care ServicesClinical Responsibilities
There are no direct patient care responsibilities in this roleEnsure APP teams deliver evidence-based, high-quality care in alignment with protocols.Serve as a clinical resource for complex cases and expertise in the performance and scope of an APPEducation and Professional Development
Promote continuing education, certification, and professional development to maintain advanced clinical competencies.Develop and oversee system-wide orientation, continuing education, and leadership development programs for APPs.Experience Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a healthcare setting, including significant APP leadership responsibility.Demonstrated success in system-level leadership, strategic planning, and clinical operations.Experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams across multiple sites preferred.Preferred : Experience with recruitment, training, and retention of APPs.Education Qualifications
Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, CRNA, or other relevant APP program.Licenses and Certifications
Current and unrestricted Louisiana license (or ability to obtain).Preferred : Advanced certification in leadership or management (e.g., DNP, MBA, MHA).Skills and Abilities
Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, credentialing, and scope of practice laws for APPs.Proven ability to drive quality, operational, and financial outcomes.Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and collaborative practice.Work Shift : Days (United States of America)
