Job Title : Registered Nurse – Diagnostic Radiology
Position Summary :
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Diagnostic Radiology team. The RN in this role plays a vital part in ensuring patient safety and comfort before, during, and after radiologic procedures. This includes pre-procedure assessment, medication administration, monitoring during imaging or interventional studies, and post-procedure recovery and education.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform pre-procedure assessments, including vital signs, allergies, and medication history
- Provide patient education regarding imaging procedures (e.g., MRI, CT, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology)
- Start IVs and administer contrast agents or sedation as ordered
- Monitor patients during and after procedures for adverse reactions or complications
- Collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare providers to ensure safe and efficient care
- Respond to medical emergencies in the radiology department, including performing BLS or ACLS as needed
- Ensure accurate documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Maintain knowledge of protocols, contrast agents, sedation practices, and infection control procedures
- Assist in coordinating patient flow and managing schedules to minimize delays
- Ensure proper communication with patients and families throughout the diagnostic process
- Comply with all institutional policies and regulatory guidelines, including radiation safety and patient confidentiality
Qualifications :
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in New YorkBLS and ACLS certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)Minimum 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience ; experience in critical care, emergency, or procedural areas preferredStrong IV placement and medication administration skillsKnowledge of contrast agents, moderate sedation protocols, and emergency response proceduresExperience with electronic health record (EHR) systemsExcellent communication, assessment, and critical thinking skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environmentPreferred Qualifications :
Prior experience in radiology nursing or procedural areas such as endoscopy, cath lab, or ORCertification in Radiology Nursing (e.g., CRN) is a plusFamiliarity with radiology-specific procedures, patient positioning, and post-procedure care needsWorking Conditions :
